Mental Maps

What are mental maps?

Mental maps are techniques that help us organize and represent data in a simple, natural, and creative way to be processed and retained. This method allows ideas to generate other ideas, making it easier to visualize how they connect and expand beyond the restrictions of the traditionally linear organization of the brain.

Why use mental maps?

Because the human brain works in an associative, rather than linear method, by comparing, integrating, and resuming data while it works.  Based on this idea, mental maps establish associations between old and new ideas without using the linear process.

When using and developing mental maps, both brain hemispheres are used, stimulating the equilibrated development of the brain.

They encourage creativity, retention of concepts and learning in general.  The average student who uses mental maps is 75% more effective than those who don’t.

When is it recommended to use them?

Whenever you need...
• To take notes
• To remember information
• To solve problems
